2. Products and Descriptions

We offer two main types of products:

2.1 Reproduction Parts

a) All parts are either handmade or sourced to match original Austin J40 specifications wherever possible. As many items are hand-finished, minor variances in appearance or fit may occur and are not considered faults.

b) Due to the hand-built nature of the original cars, and the fact that each J40 may have slightly changed shape or dimensions over time, part fitment may vary slightly between individual cars and may require minor adaptation or adjustment during installation. This is considered normal and expected.

2.2 Pedal Cars (Complete or Project Cars)

Each J40 sold is described as accurately as possible. Cars may be:

  • Fully restored: complete, functional and ready for display or light use
  • Partially restored or project cars: sold as-is and may require repair or assembly

Condition will be clearly described prior to sale, with supporting photos. Buyers are encouraged to ask questions before committing.

2.3 Restoration Timeframes, Deposits & Original Characteristics

a) Restoration Timeframes & Deposits

All restoration timeframes provided by MR J40 Pedal Cars Ltd and/or Eaton Heritage Ltd are estimates only and are not guaranteed. Due to the specialist nature of Austin J40 restorations, project durations may vary as a result of internal and external factors, including but not limited to parts availability, supplier delays, unforeseen repairs, customer-requested specification changes, specialist subcontractor availability, and workshop scheduling. Whilst every reasonable effort will be made to complete restorations within the estimated timeframe, MR J40 Pedal Cars Ltd and Eaton Heritage Ltd shall not be held liable for any variation or delay. Customers will be kept informed of progress throughout the restoration wherever reasonably practicable. All deposits paid to secure a restoration commission are strictly non-refundable.

b) Original Vehicle Characteristics

Austin J40 pedal cars were originally hand-built at the Austin factory using manually formed steel components and manufacturing techniques of the period. As a result, individual vehicles may exhibit minor asymmetries, surface variations, panel inconsistencies, weld marks, or other imperfections that are consistent with original factory manufacture. Where historically appropriate, such characteristics may be retained or recreated during restoration to preserve authenticity and should not be regarded as defects in workmanship or materials.
